Minimal Simplicity: A Sophisticated Residential Apartment Design

Embracing Simplicity and Minimalism

Space is formed due to people, the yearnings and needs towards the living environment reflect the presentation of own personality. Chien-Hung Lu, the renowned designer, grasped onto the core content of simplicity and demonstrated it in this work. By giving up complicated techniques and color applications, the focus is on the materials and the details to create a simple yet nonempty conception.

This residential apartment design, aptly named Minimal Simplicity, stands out for its unique approach to simplicity as the core design principle. Inspired by the rising popularity of minimalism in the 21st century, Chien-Hung Lu has created a space that resonates with those seeking a minimalist lifestyle in the midst of a materialistic world.

The design of the living room and dining room combines them into one public space, using black, white, and grey as the main base tones to highlight the dignified and conservative beauty of the space. The integration of wooden color tones adds warmth while maintaining a conservative spatial characteristic. Notably, dark wood color tones are adopted for both the living room and dining room tables, adding a sense of layers to the space.

With a property size of 116 square meters, Minimal Simplicity offers a well-designed and functional living space. The dining area features a square table, eliminating unnecessary use of space and encouraging face-to-face interactive conversations among family members. At the back of the dining room, a Japanese room adds a touch of cultural diversity to the overall design.

The use of different materials, including wooden textures and iron pieces, creates a vivid and strong visual effect throughout the space. The addition of iron pieces not only adds visual interest but also aligns with modern design principles. In response to the rainy climate of Yilan, diatomaceous earth material is selected to regulate the humidity and moisture of the space, ensuring a comfortable living environment.

Minimal Simplicity, completed on the 20th of March in Yilan City, Taiwan, has garnered recognition for its exceptional design. The project was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2020. This prestigious award recognizes well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements, contributing to a better world.

Chien-Hung Lu's Minimal Simplicity is a testament to the power of simplicity and minimalism in creating a sophisticated and harmonious living space. By embracing the essence of minimalism, this residential apartment design offers a sanctuary for those seeking a balanced and clutter-free lifestyle.
